The principles guiding the Delmire selection
Delmire's values are not labels to be applied to products. They are criteria that help us choose, describe, and organize what goes into our selection.
We prefer a few clear principles, applied consistently and with a willingness to update information as we learn new things.
1. Transparency before promises
We want to distinguish what we know from what has yet to be verified.
Origin, materials, ingredients, production processes, and sustainability are distinct pieces of information. When we have sufficient evidence, we share it; when we do not, we prefer to say so.
2. Selective with purpose
Not everything needs to be in Delmire.
We evaluate brands and products by trying to understand if they meet real needs, if they provide sufficiently clear information, and if they add something consistent to our overall selection.
The growth of our catalog must not lead to a loss of direction.
3. Origin described with precision
We value Italian businesses, but we always distinguish the brand from the origin of the individual product.
When we can consider the Italian origin verified for the purposes of our editorial selection, we state it. In other cases, we keep the information open until we have sufficient evidence.
4. Utility before noise
A product interests us primarily when it has a clear function and can be useful in everyday life.
Aesthetics, design, and presentation matter, but they do not replace functionality, the quality of information, and consistency with the need the product addresses.
5. Knowing who is behind it
We believe a product is more understandable when we know something about those who designed, manufactured, or developed it.
That is why we dedicate space to brands, their stories, their expertise, and, when relevant and verifiable, the regions they come from.
6. Information that improves over time
The Delmire catalog is an evolving project.
We may update a product page when we receive new data from the manufacturer, delve deeper into an origin, or better understand a product feature.
For us, correcting or completing information is not a limitation: it is part of the work.
The Delmire criterion
In summary, we look for:
- transparency;
- verifiable information;
- brands with a recognizable identity;
- useful and consistent products;
- origin described without oversimplification;
- content that truly helps you choose.
We are not looking for perfection. We are looking for clarity, consistency, and useful information.
